چکیده

Drinking water quality assessment in Kathmandu valley has always been crucial with reference to public health importance. The objective of this study was assess the drinking respect physiochemical and microbiological parameters. A total 63 random samples were collected from different sources like stone spout, tap, well, boring, hand pumps jar wards Kageshwori Manohara Municipality, Kathmandu. carried out for 6 months January July, 2019. pH range 6.5-7.2, temperature 5-19 °C, chloride 0-96.56 mg/L, nitrate 0-5.4 mg/L iron 0-1.1 mg/L. physicochemical parameters including pH, temperature, chloride, found lie within WHO guideline value except where 4 (6.34%) 2 1 boring well exceeded guideline. bacteriological analysis revealed presence coliform 35 (55.56%) samples, among which 8 (12.69%) have faecal coliform. Potable water as a source for legionellosis.

Several lines of evidence have been examined in attempts to implicate potable water as a source for legionellosis. Success has been mixed. The strongest evidence has been the similarity of strains recovered from patients and from potable water and the cessation of outbreaks following institution of measures to eradicate Legionella from potable water systems. Epidemiologic efforts to identify th...

Microbial biotechnologies for potable water production

The WHO suggests that humans require an absolute minimum of 7.5 L of water per day, while a minimum of about 20 L of water per person per day is recommended to ensure adequate hygienic standards. With a population of 7.5 billion, this works out to 150 billion litres of safe freshwater daily, globally. Much more than this is generally consumed in developed nations, while less than adequate amoun...

Portable LED fluorescence instrumentation for the rapid assessment of potable water quality.

Characterising the organic and microbial matrix of water are key issues in ensuring a safe potable water supply. Current techniques only confirm water quality retrospectively via laboratory analysis of discrete samples. Whilst such analysis is required for regulatory purposes, it would be highly beneficial to monitor water quality in-situ in real time, enabling rapid water quality assessment an...
